ABOUT US - NOT YO' MAMA'S WEDDING BAND

All of us in The Incantations have been indie musicians touring both sides of the Atlantic with different projects for over 11 years.

As we started to enter our 30's, some of our friends (and some of us!) began to get married and realized-- "hey, I'd love to get a great band for my wedding reception, but most of these pro-shop wedding bands are criminally expensive ...and pretty lame!"

As one of our past clients put it, there's a little too much "Vegas residue" on the wedding band circuit.

So, as grizzled indie rock road vets, we decided to throw our hats in the ring-- to provide a professional-- and more down-to-earth-- alternative to the high-haired, 15-piece "Gonzo" wedding orchestra for our friends' weddings. From there, it has expanded exponentially and we regularly play out-of-state for weddings, corporate events and other functions.

Some of the acts our members have played with (and continue to play with) over the years include the Mavis Staples Singers [of "I'll Take You There" fame], Redmoon Theater Company, Bobby Conn, Baby Teeth, Detholz!, Paris DeLane, and many, many others. We regularly headline venues in Chicago like Metro, Hideout, Empty Bottle, Schubas and in our various bands have toured with the Grammy-award winning Wilco, Arcade Fire, Weird War, Electric 6 and other independent and major label acts.

As a photographer at a wedding told us recently, "you guys aren't too precious or distant. Just good people making great music where the fun is DIRECTLY accessible."

We hope to work closely with you put together an event that will appeal not only to grandma and mom, but to you and your close friends and associates as well.
